Dedicated to Fighting Global Warming
The challenge of slowing and preparing for climate change affects nearly all of our work. We strongly supported the Global Warming Solutions Act of 2006 (aka, Assembly Bill 32), which mandates an enforceable statewide limit on greenhouse gas emissions. Now that the law is in place, we are focusing on California’s Air Resources Board and the other state agencies charged with taking the concrete steps necessary to bring down emissions. We work closely with the staff and members of the Air Board, communicate our message through newspapers, television, radio and the internet, and testify at hearings to ensure that California moves quickly and credibly to slow global warming. There are simple solutions like mandating more aerodynamic trucks, and there are more complex solutions such as promoting efficient land use patterns and cleaner transportation fuels. In either case, Sierra Club California will continue to be on the front lines of the issue.
