THE MISSION
The California Coast Resilient Habitats Campaign mission is to protect, and restore habitats in the face of climate change.
- PROTECT habitats from being degraded by climate change and other human impacts.
- CONNECT habitats so wildlife can migrate to more suitable habitats as the climate changes.
- RESTORE habitats that are degraded by climate change or other human impacts.
Temperatures will get hotter and rain will be less frequent, but storms will be more sever. Flooding will become more common as sea level rises. To assure that coastal and marine wildlife habitats are resilient we need to be proactive and plan ahead.
THE GOALS
- Create science-based blueprints for building resilient habitats and natural systems carbon sequestration.
- Protect adequate and appropriate core areas, buffer areas, and connecting corridors to give species the space to adapt as the climate changes.
- Limit all non-climate stressors that exacerbate the impact of climate change on natural areas.
- Apply climate-smart management and testing adaptation strategies.
- Rely on natural systems to safeguard communities from climate change.
- Protect and restore natural areas to help sequester atmospheric carbon dioxide pollution.
- Provide adequate and reliable sources of funding to build resilient habitats and natural systems carbon sequestration programs.
THE ISSUES
- Key Conservation Area Protection & Expansion (learn more–>)
- Update State Wildlife Action Plan (learn more–>)

THE CAMPAIGN MAP
The campaign area covers 66,140 square miles, 32,985 sq miles are marine and 33,175 sq miles are terristrial. Check out the map, links below.
CALIFORNIA COAST PROJECTS
THE PLEDGE
I support the California Coast Resilient Habitats Campaign principles, as follows:
- Use natural systems to protect California’s shoreline.
- Protect, connect and restore key conservation areas.
- Do not place people, businesses or infrastructure in harm’s way from flooding and sea-level rise.
- Protect the water quality of coastal watershed streams and rivers.
- Require that water diversions leave stream and river ecosystems healthy.
- Support the removal of barriers to fish spawning and sediment transport.
