In 2010 we recognized Senator Alan Lowenthal and Assemblymember Ira Ruskin.
Senator Lowenthal was honored for authoring bills on important environmental issues like coastal protection, used oil recycling, hazardous waste, and leaking underground storage tanks. In addition, Senator Lowenthal stood up for landmark laws like the California Environmental Quality Act.
Assemblymember Ruskin was honored for authoring and passing into law important environmental bills including the Mercury Thermostat Collection Act of 2008, measures aimed at protecting wildlife corridors, and cleaning up leaking underground storage tanks.
